Team news as FC United tackle Tamworth

In-form FC United will be looking for our third consecutive victory as we host Tamworth at Broadhurst Park on Saturday afternoon.

The Reds moved 11 points clear of the relegation zone in the Vanarama National League North after back-to-back wins over Gloucester City and Kidderminster Harriers and will be looking for more of the same tomorrow.

Goalkeeper Adriano Basso is available after serving a three match ban but manager Karl Marginson will almost definitely continue with David Carnell, who was instrumental in last weekend’s 1-0 victory over Kidderminster. Meanwhile, fullback Chris Chantler must sit out one more game after being sent off at Stockport County.

The most pressing concern for Margy will be how to fill the void left by midfield general Harry Winter, who made the surprise switch to Stockport in midweek.

Saturday’s match promises to be an interesting encounter. The 13th placed Reds have won three, draw one and lost one of our last five outings. Meanwhile, the eighth placed Lambs have won two, lost two and drawn one, including a surprise 2-0 victory at home to second placed Salford City last week.

The Reds have met Tamworth competitively on three separate occasions and each time the result has been 1-1. A similar result tomorrow would be viewed by many as another acceptable point towards confirming our place in English football’s sixth tier for a third season. However, given the results of the last two weeks, the FC United faithful will be hoping for another three points.

FC United of Manchester versus Tamworth is this Saturday at Broadhurst Park with kick-off at the traditional and supporter-friendly time of three o’clock. It’s pay on the gate as usual, with prices at £9 for adults, £5 concessions and £2 for under-18s. Get yourself to our football ground.
