We are sorry to announce that midfielder Harry Winter is leaving FC United to sign for our National League North neighbours Stockport County.

Harry Winter (27) played 60 times for the Club scoring on six occasions since signing for us from Chorley in November 2015. In his full league debut away at Nuneaton, Winter scored in a vital 2-2 draw to put an end to a 7 match losing streak in the league.

Of Harry Winter, Karl Marginson said;

"I’ve known Harry for a number of years so was delighted when we signed him last season at a time when we were going through a tough patch. It took him no time to get settled in and he immediately made the role of midfield general his own.

"Harry has been magnificent for us over the last two seasons and we’re extremely sorry to see him go. He’s a quality, dedicated, hard working team player who possesses great energy and physical presence. This was shown in abundance when he grabbed us that vital last minute win away a Gainsborough in December this season. I’d like thank Harry for his contribution to the team and wish him all the very best at Stockport."

For supporters asking whether Harry Winter was a contracted player at FC United, Karl explained that; "both parties were happy to continue the arrangement on a pay-as-you-play basis. However, the offer that Stockport made was something that Harry could not turn down and as a club we will not stand in anyone’s way if a player wishes progress their career elsewhere."

Harry Winter leaves us on very good terms, and sent us a message last night to say, "I love FC United and it was a hard decision to leave."

So on behalf of the club and all the supporters at FC United we’d like to say a huge thank you to Harry and wish him all the very best as he takes on a new challenge.
