We are delighted to announce that FC United will be hosting a 5 day Beer Festival at Broadhurst Park as part of our European Friendly Weekend against SV Austria Salzburg.

Click here for more information about the friendly match itself.

The 5-Day Beer Festival is open to all, so if you like your beer, football or both, this is not to be missed. We have already received confirmation that over 250 Austrians plus fans from other fan owned club across Europe will be making the trip over, so it’ll definitely have a ‘Euro Away’ feel to it.

There will be over 20 Ales and Ciders available, and a guest lager (Bootleg Tap) and bottles of Essenburger Austrian Lager too. We have teamed up with a number of local breweries including: Joseph Holts, Bootleg Brewing Co.,Three B Blackburn, Fuzzy Duck, Greenmill, Great Orme, Kirby Lonsdale and Bank Top.

So whether you fancy a “Flat Cap???, “Fools Gold??? or a “Pheasant Plucker??? there’s something for all tastes.

The five day’s see’s four football matches taking place at Broadhurst Park.

Kicking off at 2pm on Saturday 4th February on the 3G Pitch is FC United Reserves v Hyde United Reserves.

At 5pm it’s FC United v SV Austria Salzburg on the main pitch. Please note the kick-off time of 5pm was set to accommodate travelling Austrian supporters whose flights get into Manchester early afternoon.

On Sunday 5th February it’s FC United’s Women v Egerton Ladies, kick-off 2pm on the 3G Pitch.

And finally on Tuesday 7th February, FC United host West Didsbury & Chorlton in the Semi-Final of the Manchester Premier Cup. Kick-off 7.45pm.

In addition to the football, we’re delighted to welcome back ’Course You Can Malcolm’ (CYCM) for a second week running. CYCM is a club night in the afternoon and features various guest speakers and a live band. An extended CYCM will take place on Saturday 4th February in the Main Stand Bar. Doors open at 1pm and will run right up to kick-off time. More details about the 4th Feb CYCM will be published soon.

In keeping with the European feel of the weekend, we will also be collecting foreign currency in aid of the FC United Development Fund. We reckon everyone has about £20 of foreign currency in their bedside table / drawer downstairs doing nothing which FC can turn into cash. We have a company which converts it and with the low value of the £ against foreign currencies it is an idea time to drop in all that left over currency - coins and notes into the barrels that are positioned throughout the ground.

Board Member Jim Brunt who has helped organise the friendly with Salzburg spoke with Ben Hughes from FCUMRadio to explain the how the fixture came about and the activities planned for the Beer Festival.
