With no first team fixture this weekend our attention turns to FC United’s Women’s Team who host fellow title contenders Merseyrail Bootle on Sunday 11th December ko 2pm, at Broadhurst Park 3G Pitch.

We’d like to encourage as many FC fans as possible to come along and see first hand the quality of our Women’s Team. The hardcore army of around 60 FC fans who regularly turn up watch the FC Womens Team will no doubt make you feel very welcome.

As well as the match being FREE to watch, there’s an added bonus as the bar in the Main Stand will be open from 12.30pm, and for those wanting to do a bit of FC Christmas shopping, the Megacabin will be open from 12 noon to 2pm.

For those FC supporters who may not be familiar with the Women’s Team setup, FC United’s Women’s Team currently play in the ’North West Women’s Regional League (NWWRL) Division One South’ which is the sixth tier of the English women’s football pyramid.

After winning the Greater Manchester Women’s Football League in 2014/15, FC United were promoted NWWRL Div 1 South last season where they finished 2nd in the league only 6 points behind champions MSB Woolton.

This season, FC’s aim is to win the league to gain promotion to the NWWRL Premier which include teams like Blackpool, Bolton, Burnley, Wigan and Stockport, however Sunday’s opponents Merseyrail Bootle also have their eye on promotion too. From the 10 matches FC United and Merseyrail Bootle have played so far this season, both teams are undefeated having won 9 and drawing 1. They have both been banging goals in for fun too; with FC scoring 48 and Merseyrail scoring 54. Defensively both sides are very solid with FC conceding 5 and Merseyrail conceding just 4.

As we reach the halfway point in the season (22 games in total), it’s now starting to look like a two horse race as 3rd placed Liverpool Marshall Feds are now 8 points behind the leaders on having played 2 games more.

So we’re all poised for an absolute belter on Sunday as the two teams go head-to-head for the first time this season. So get yourself down to Broadhurst Park on Sunday and cheer the girls on.

BRING ON UNITED!
