Buxton game fundraising nets a grand amount

We had another quality day for the Pound for the Ground squad at Gigg Lane at the Buxton match, with a total of 1,020 tickets sold. The winning number who takes away £200 was 660 and this was claimed at the interval. The second prize of a meal for two was number 740 and was also claimed. There was a third prize of a fudge hamper, ticket 457, and as yet this is unclaimed. That left a very healthy £820 for the Development Fund.

Some heart warming stories from the barrel contributors: -

- We swapped some US dollars with Martin and got a very generous £20 in return.
- A large bag of 2p’s were handed in at the membership stall and when counted came to exactly £20.
- Two carrier bags came in through reception, containing almost £100 in small change, with a note that said "From Maggie’s big coffee jar-- Cymru am bath go FCUM" ... we couldn’t agree more Maggie!!
- Add in the many other bags of change and notes and it totalled another £424 for the Development Fund.

There was also a collection at the general meeting last Thursday which netted a tidy £55 from the members that attended. Add it all together and we’ve raised £1,299 this week at matches and meetings. Not bad at all.

Thanks to all who have donated this week. We may have a bad day at the office on the pitch, but we are building our ground and we will look back at the day as a mere blip in our history. Pick ourselves up, dust ourselves down and get to ’Vegas on Tuesday with heads held high and ready to go again . . . that’s what we do at this football club better than anyone else!
