Latest barrels and fundraising update

Latest barrels and fundraising updateA season record of 905 tickets were sold at last Saturday’s King’s Lynn Town game at Gigg Lane by our intrepid Pound for the Ground crew. The winning ticket was number 611 and the £200 prize was claimed by Alan Klein, who immediately tipped £50 into the nearest barrel. Rumour has it he may be investing in a new greyhound anytime soon! The remaining £705 goes into the Development Fund. Ticket number 1433 was drawn out for the meal for two at the Rose n Bowl and is as yet unclaimed.

The Barrels again yielded a terrific amount of loose change and other contributions. We had £50 from Alan the half time draw winner, a £50 cheque made out to the DF, £30 from swapping a bagful of obsolete coins, a fancy purse stuffed with change and finally £15 from the match sponsors, Treadstone Law, who had a sweep on the first goal of the game and the winner donated his winnings. The grand total was £413 for the DF, along with 15 euros and a smattering of foreign notes and coins.

On Tuesday the winning ticket was 617 and as yet the £200 is unclaimed. A healthy 565 tickets were sold so that yielded a further £365 for the DF. The meal winning number was 1273 and claimed by Dave from North Wales, who has kindly donated the voucher for a raffle prize at the end of season knees-up on 29 March 2014.

The barrel count up came to £161, which is a fantastic amount for a midweek game.

So, all in all, that’s over £1,600 into our Development Fund from just two match days and a big thanks must go to all who pitched in. It’s great to see what this money is being spent on at Moston now that the new ground is rising from the earth, but let’s crack on till the end of the season raising money through the Pound for the Ground draw and the barrels. Please root out all your loose change and foreign stuff for the next home game on Saturday 29 March 2014 and in the meantime, we’ll see you all at Skelmersdale on Saturday.
