Hednesford 2-1 FC United It was third time unlucky for FC United on Saturday afternoon as the Reds lost the Evo-Stik Premier Division play-off final 2-1 away to Hednesford Town in a closely fought match
United found themselves 2-0 down after a disappointing first half, and despite a good second half fight back the Reds couldn’t find a way through and suffered defeat at the final hurdle for the third season running. FC United Women 0-1 Mcr City FC United’s women’s team lost the Greater Manchester Women’s Football League Cup Final by the narrowest of margins to a 46th minute strike from Manchester City’s Ellen Bergin to bring the curtain down on a fantastic first season despite the result. Active Fan Ownership
FC United’s community and education team are investigating whether we can run a course called ’Active Fan Ownership’ The idea is to give fans and members who are unemployed a chance to do some activities that benefit the club but that can also be accredited so that they help people find employment. In particular, we want to give people chances to develop skills and gain experience in organisation, customer-facing roles and media. The course would be delivered by the club’s community & education team, including Karl Marginson and one of our players. The course would cover; - Volunteering at match days - Volunteering for community and/or fundraising projects - Planning and leading group trips to FC United matches - Making a radio programme for FCUM Radio - Writing for the match programme and the club’s website The course would run for 13 weeks and would involve a commitment of 15 hours per week, 3 hours per day. We would start at the end of Sept and carry on until just after the New Year. The course will be delivered from somewhere in North Manchester. To come on the course you have to be unemployed and in receipt of benefits. It will be suitable for people of all ages 16+ and nearly all educational backgrounds. We are trying to establish how many people would be interested in doing the course to see if it would be viable for the club to run it.
