Match Report
In a performance that resembled the clean up after the Lord Mayors Parade, FC United went down to a first league defeat of the season away at Prescot Cables. The reds made things difficult for themselves straight from the kick off, needlessly conceding a corner; from which Peter Kettell headed in at the near post.

Prescot were much the hungrier side throughout the game and were unlucky not to add to the score as Adam Rider and Craig Leavesley went close in the first fifteen minutes. The rest of the first half was played out with little more than half chances as FC tried to get into the game.

The second half started brighter as after 50 minutes a short corner routine with Dylan Moloney and Scott Cheetham provided a cross that saw Davison Banda try an overhead kick and Obied Elghreaw head goal wards but without testing David Cowdall in the Prescot net.

In the next fifteen minutes FC had the ball in the net twice but both were correctly disallowed as first Jordan Evans shot from outside the box was turned in by a player in an offside position and secondly when in his desperation to reach a Jay Walcott cross, Jimmy Green turned the ball in with an outstretched hand.

Prescot then extended their lead when a free kick around forty five yards was turned in first time from the edge of the box after clearing easily Davison who was first defender.

The reds did score in the 82nd minute when Jimmy fired home a Jay Walcott cross. Harrison Reeve broke clear of the defence in injury time and was unlucky to see his shot hit the post and be cleared for a corner; from which a flick header was cleared off the line. Despite those near misses a draw would have been scant reward for Prescot and would have put a flattering gloss on a poor FC performance.

FC United of Manchester: Hayden Buckley-Smith, Davison Banda, Carl Fitton, Jordan Dainty, Obied Elghreaw, Jordan Evans, Lee Hill (Jimmy |Green 45 mins), Scott Cheetham (Harrison Reeve 65 mins), Dylan Moloney (Jay Walcott 58 mins), Luke Kolakowski, Jake Haslam. Subs not used: Lee Worswick and Sam Howell.

Goal: Jimmy Green

Cautions: Jimmy Green, Luke Kolakowski.
