FC United of Manchester’s Youth Team travelled in to the hills to begin their defence of the Manchester FA County Cup at Mossley and came back on the wrong side of a 4-1 result. The reds started brightly and took the lead when the Mossley keeper sliced a clearance from a back pass to Jake Haslam who slotted home from the edge of the box.

Unfortunately that was as good as it got as the home side comprehensively out thought, out fought and out played the visitors. Two free kicks were not dealt with as Mossley were in front by the half hour mark and 3-1 up before half time. A fourth came just after the hour mark and was in truth scant reward for their efforts.
