Match Report
AFC FYLDE YOUTH 1 FC UNITED YOUTH 2

FC United Youth bounced back from conceding an early goal to win 2-1 against AFC Fylde Youth in their latest Football Conference Youth Alliance Division I league fixture on Wednesday afternoon.

In a match switched to Broadhurst Park, Manchester due to the unavailability of a suitable pitch in the Fylde Coast area, the Coasters took the lead in just the second minute when Will Robinson was first to react to an AFC Fylde free-kick that had crashed back off the crossbar.

FC United Youth were struggling to cope with the stiff breeze, and it took until the 42nd minute to register a worthwhile shot on target, when AFC Fylde ’keeper Matt Jones dived low to save from FC’s Cameron Horner.

And it took a double substitution in the 67th minute before FC United were able to make the breakthrough; as Robson Buckley’s replacement Keenan Tuck bundled home a Will Shawcross corner at the second attempt, within a minute of coming onto the park.

In the final stage of the game, the result could easily have gone either way, but it was FC United Youth who made sure of the points on 83 minutes when leading scorer Cameron Horner curled home a shot from ten yards out, to maintain the Reds’ possible hope of a place in the end-of-season play-off competition.

FC United Youth’s next fixture in the Football Conference Youth Alliance is at home vs Farsley Celtic Youth on Wednesday 3rd February 2016. Kick-off 2.00 p.m.
