Match Report
FC United bowed out of the Doodson Sport Cup after losing 4-3 to Curzon Ashton at the Tameside Stadium on Monday night following a 0-0 draw in normal time.

FC came close straight from the kick off when Scott Cheetham ran clear on the left wing, his cross being headed wide. The ball was in the net on 15 minutes when Matty Kay crossed for Matt Walwyn to head in, albeit from an offside position.

Kay came close shortly after but his free-kick was straight at Cameron Mason in the home goal.

On 48 minutes, Kay came hit the crossbar from close in but there was a lack of goalmouth action from either team and it was no surprise that the game was settled by a penalty shootout.

Chris Lynch got FC off to a good start but after three penalties the score was 2-2. Greg Daniels and Luke Ashworth missed the third and fourth kicks whereas Curzon converted theirs. Jerome Wright slotted home the fifth kick but Jake Parker held his nerve to send Curzon Ashton through to the next round.
