Match Report
It started on Saturday at 11 and ended with FC United Develoment Squad having scored an 11-0 victory over Eccleshill United at the Nicholls Campus. Four Goals from Jon Poizer along with two from Scott Cheetham and strikes from Frank van Gils, Jason Fowles, Josh Burke, Josh Smethurst and debutante Justin Johnson were just the bare statistics as the reds went back to the top of the Lancashire League Eastern Division.

To their credit Eccleshill tried to play football as we like to see it throughout the whole 90 minutes but were in truth unable to live with the reds speed of thought and movement with three good chances before Poizer opened the scoring in the seventh minute. Ryan Lyons turned defence into attack with a ball down the line for Jason Fowles and his pass to Poizer.

Caleb Jenkins in the visitors goal saved from van Gils on ten minutes but that was only temporary relief as Poizer headed home another Fowles cross. Frank was on the score sheet himself just five minutes later with a solo run and shot starting from the half way line.

The fourth came in the 26th minute when Fowles scored from close range. Poizer on the left wing had put Scott Cheetham clear, his cross cum shot may have beaten the defenders into the net but Fowles made sure. Jason almost added a fifth with a 25 yard shot that Jenkins, with the first of maybe half a dozen full stretch saves turned over for a corner. Perhaps not surprisingly the pace of the game slowed a little for the rest of the half, although FC continued to create chances they didn’t really get anything on target.

Encouraged to pick up the pace again at half time the scoring resumed fairly quickly, Poizer completed his hat-trick in the forty eigth minute when closing down the space for Jenkins to clear a back pass found the ball rebounding off him and into the net. The visitors keeper found some relief two minutes later, with another fine save from a 30 yard Kuba-Kuba drive. Kial Callacher was unfortunate to be heading wide from a subsequent corner.

Having come on as a substitute at half time, Johnson was soon causing havoc down the left wing, a low cross in the 53rd minute found Cheetham who drilled home from around 12 yards to make it 6-0. Van Gils was denied on the hour when another fine save thwarted his 30 yard effort.

It was 7-0 on 67 minutes when Kuba Kuba supplied Burke for a close range finish. Five minutes later there was a moment of light relief that showed even referees have a sense of humour. Having stopped the game for an Eccleshill head injury the subsequent restart needed three attempts as Bator, the Eccleshill number 11 tried twice to get some kind of advantage over Ryan Lyons by not waiting for the ball to bounce. Take three ensured the game restarted.

With a quarter of an hour to go Medi Bakinama kame on for Kuba Kuba and he was able to get a share of the action in a frantic final ten minutes af the reds scored four more times against a tired visiting defence. On 82 minutes his pull back was smashed home by Smethurst. Two minutes later, van Gils found Johnson in the box, he twisted and turned before finding Cheetham who fired home his second.

On 86 minutes Poizer got his fourth and the games tenth goal completing a move involving Bakinama and van Gils. Yet still there was time for Johnson to hit a post before making it eleven with almost the last kick of the game and for Frank to travel to Gigg Lane for a place on the first team bench against Stocksbridge Park Steels. Weather permitting the lads travel to Garforth on Thursday for a 7:45 kick off
