October Half Term Multi-Sports Success

October Half Term Multi-Sports SuccessFC United received funding from Manchester City Council’s Neighbourhood Investment Fund to run a free multi-sport half term activity for local young people from 1pm - 5pm each day throughout the October Half Term holidays. With more than 130 young people attending (and just over 100 from our local geographic area), the event was a massive success. We are a financially inclusive club with community at the heart of our manifesto and so everyone involved with FC United of Manchester should be immensely proud that the club in its first ever season at Broadhurst Park has managed to engage with such a huge amount of young people and that the offer was free of charge. There were 100 boys and just over 30 girls aged between 4 and 14 involved in the project and the feedback from both young people and parents/guardians has been exceptional.

Feedback from parents:

’Very good sessions and should be done again’
’The half term activities has been more than fantastic. My children enjoyed every bit of it and they will look for more of this next time around. Also the coaches have been wonderful and friendly to the children’.
’Josh has really enjoyed his week of training with FC United. It has been a good experience for him’.
’Brilliant! Kids loved it. Hope its on again - great to keep the kids off the streets’.
’I have stayed every day to watch my child and I think that what FC United have done during the holidays has been fantastic for the kids and the community. May it continue during future school holidays’.

’The kids really enjoyed coming to football. It gave them something to do in the holidays plus it was free’.
’My son’s loved everything about it. The service you offer is brilliant.’
’It has been a great week for the kids - they have really enjoyed it. It’s kept them active and they can sleep, ha! The kids now love the football club’.

Feedback from young people:

All participants said they enjoyed each session and that they would return again if we managed to do the same in another holiday period.

Feedback from Andy Cheshire (Community and Education Manager)

As far as I am concerned, this is what FC United is all about; Providing a free community sports session aimed at engaging all local young people. It was a joy to see so many people using our 3g pitch throughout the holiday period and the feedback from all was very positive.

Feedback from Jack Dickenson (Community Coach)

I thought it was a fantastic example of a financially inclusive sports activity that engaged lots of young people from the local community.
