Latest Community News StoryFC United of Manchester and Street LeagueFC United of Manchester have formed a close working relationship with Street League to deliver a significant part of our community work.
Street League is a national charity with a ten year track record of using football to change young people’s lives. Having established a good track record in London, Glasgow and the North East, they were looking at establishing a base in Manchester in 2011.
In a series of meetings with FC United, the club came to the following conclusions about Street League;
1. They shared the club’s desire to use football to support young unemployed people, including some of the most difficult to reach young people, into training and employment through football.
2. They had the experience and know-how to do this very effectively.
3. They also had experience of attracting significant resources to this work.
At the same time, Street League was attracted to us as a partner that shared its goals and had the ability to help them build links across Manchester.
We, therefore, reached agreement with Street League to work together to develop a joint programme. This has now been launched and we have two Street League employees working out of our offices with two more expected to join them early in the New Year.
